My name is Georgia May and I'm an aspiring screenwriter, author and filmmaker from the South East.
Cinema and storytelling have been in my dreams ever since I was a kid, getting excited for Big Writing Fridays at my primary school and making every night movie night, thinking wow, people make this? I've been shooting little experimental art films for years, and can forever be found penning poetry, short stories, and watering the seeds of yet another script idea. My shorts and screenplays have been Officially Selected by over a dozen film festivals around the globe, and I have a handful of novel and chapbook manuscripts in the works for publication. As a freelance film journalist, I'm responsible for writing articles, features, reviews, listicles, op-eds, film festival coverage and video essay scripts across various platforms, currently working for a site called High on Films. I live and breathe cinema, and adore the written word in any form. Poem, play, novel, flash fiction, short story, article, movie—you name it, I've written it. In terms of themes and styles, I tend toward the psychological, the metaphorical and the avant-garde; countercultures, film grain and rebellion. Hemmingway, Ali Smith, Paul Thomas Anderson. Acid heads, James Dean and the Beat Generation. Capeesh? |
"Yes, people are bad. Cinema is innocent, innocent."
